American Wood Fibers (AWF), a rapidly growing manufacturer of consumer and industrial products sold to other manufacturers and to pet, agricultural and home heating markets, seeks a 2nd Shift Supervisor in Marshall, TX. AWF manufactures at 11 locations spanning the nation, has approximately 450 employees, and generates over $100M in annual sales.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of plant employees.. Trains and assists employees in completing assignments according to proper plant procedures. Analyzes shift duties to determine correct amount of time and material required to complete orders in the most efficient manner.
  • Gives instructions to employees regarding jobs to be completed and the proper method in which to complete them. Supervises plant for cleanliness, safety, quality control and optimum production.
  • Confers with other supervisors and communicates with peers, subordinates and management in a professional manner to assure assignments are being properly completed.
  • Carries out inspections and assists in building and machinery repair in order to ensure a safe and well-maintained work environment.
  • Conducts a weekly employee meeting. Establishes personal goals and works with fellow employees towards continuous improvement and teamwork.
  • Operates mobile equipment as needed in a safely and efficiently, including forklift, front end loader, and yard jockey/trailer combination.
  • Supervises loading and unloading of trucks and completion of paperwork. Verifies incoming shipments. Completes a daily inventory count and production report. Assists as required with monthly inventory counts.
  • Maintains and verifies that all current quality assurance measures are being followed and communicated to production employees, office personnel and customers. Assists in the design and implementation of new procedures as needed.
  • Secondary duties: Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATONS:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prior supervisory experience required; experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Machine operation requires repetitive motion including twisting, bending, and lifting 20-40 pounds, 5-6 times per minute.
  • Must be able to stand continuously for 8-10 hour shifts.
